The total solar eclipse of April 8, 2024 was a landmark day. Across the United States, we saw people gathering in large and small groups to witness this astronomical event.
As I watched the eclipse in a park with many people, I saw that people truly can come together, be awed, and be joyful in a time when we let politics and theology do otherwise.
As I read your post I thought of the eclipse as a (astronomical) metaphor and there are others: baptism is one; the cosmic cycle of life and death itself is another, yinning-and-yanging our way to who knows where; the light and the dark, in harmony or out, casts a shadow on Lucifer and a third of the angels manifests good and evil at the same time, in the same place. These are great metaphors for the "clear light" of consciousness (the sun) temporarily hidden by the shadow of ignorance (the moon). But here on earth, the total eclipse is just beginning. We haven't seen darkness yet.
great analogy Krysta & I hadn't thought of it like that!
