I asked a friend of mine who claimed to be an empath, if her "hyper-spiritual sensitivity" causes her to be, let's say, mentally disabled because of "picking up" negative vibrations and it makes her unable to be of service to the world she lives in, then what good is it?! We have the opportunity to bring order and coherence (and, yes, CALM!) into every space we put ourselves. To me, being "sensitive" doesn't mean being AT THE EFFECT of whatever's going on around me. It means "getting" what's needed and wanted and contributing what I can. It might simply be listening and that's not always as simple as it sounds. I also know people and places to stay far away from. "....you gots to know your limitations." (Dirty Harry)

I've been sensitive for as long as I can remember. Over the years I've gotten stronger and learned control. There are times when I'm not as focused as I should be and it can take a bit for me to re-center but I always do. My hobbies are my meditation. My focus leaves me feeling calm and relaxed. Even a day of target practice leaves me relaxed yet energized. Maybe it's because I don't feel the need to have things "snapped" back into place after that. Not sure. But my body feels great and my mind feels super sharp. Still sensitive? Yup. Very much so.

Great read, Krysta. Thank you!
