I like the quote by Heller: "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you!" One of Nazi Joseph Goebbels guiding principles was: "The bigger the lie, the more it will be believed." This reflects how he believed large-scale lies, especially conspiracy theories, could be used to manipulate public opinion. Adolf Hitler and Goebbels used conspiracy theories as tools to spread fear, justify their policies, and strengthen Nazi control. Of course, in America, something like that could never happen HERE!

I am constantly amazed at what people will believe. Recently, I was sharing with someone, who tends to believe lies, that we have friends who live in North Carolina and know people affected by the hurricane. I asked whether or not FEMA was helping people since there was so much talk of FEMA not doing their job. Our friends told us that FEMA was doing an awesome job, as well as could be expected since so many roads were washed out. My friend said, "Well I saw on TV where someone said the exact opposite."

"Yes, said, I, but these are people we know personally who have no reason to lie or make up stories." She still chose to believe what she saw on TV - FOX, no doubt. I let it go. Sigh.

😥I have been saddened by finding out people in the public eye who had been at the top of my admiration list were not the critical thinkers I had imagined . It happened during the first "reign" with a well respected female doctor I had followed for at least 30 years, and more recently with yet another professional I have looked to for the voice of reason has drunk the Kool Aid . Thank Goodness there are still sane, intelligent people who I can draw on for information and solace. I'm trying not to live in fear but it is getting harder with each passing day.

It's so unbelievable, isn't it? Gotta stay centered and away from the rabbit hole!
