I hear you loud and painful....whoops! I mean loud and clear. I think we are at the point in our political "development(?)" such that anger, screaming, yelling and confrontation is probably just as useful, effective and positive as it is negative, ineffective, and useless. Participating in "public service" might make us feel better about ourselves (and there's nothing wrong with that) but beyond that I don't think it makes much difference. Politics and religion are LONG GAMES (there's nothing immediate about them). They are infestations like cockroaches in a slum. My commitment is to a life without self-deception, keeping in mind that a polygraph is still inadmissible in court.
Yes. Smile and others will smile too. Having moved to a different state to retire I often hear people say, "don't bring your California here". Or "don't make my town a Jackson". Jackson is a reference to Jackson Hole, WY because it's become a town for the rich and the average person simply can't afford to live there. Anyway, we didn't move for the reasons some may think. We moved for affordability. Sadly our home state is just too expensive. But, now that I'm retired I have the time to do some research on my family tree. Maj. Gen. George Mead(e) is a many time great grandfather and somewhere I have a many time great uncle by the name of Daniel Boon. But all this research brings to me the ideas of the days back then, what was fought for and how we are now. There are some "rights" I don't want to have taken and there are other issues I'd like to think can be settled if only people and the media would stop being extreme. I'm not a quick thinker so I don't think getting into politics is for me but I can be nice to people that think I'm going to harm their way of life. Far from it ! I moved to this state to live a life I tasted as a young child growing up and spending my summers in the south. I would often have an accent when I got back, lol. I was not very good in school. Usually had poor grades but passable so I did graduate on time. After that time I changed and I was able to absorb so much. From history, science, medical and math to speaking to groups, (I was very shy), and taking control by keeping a level head in an emergency, (I've had plenty in my life). We keep to ourselves most of the time but enjoy when we venture out and meet people. Yes, politics can and is a top topic these days but I try to stay aware and voice my ideas for a possible middle-ground solution when I can. Your advice is very thought provoking. 2 thumbs up !!!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.....as you know, we just moved to a new area a few years ago. We also haven't met many folks here and have a mostly conservative family so don't talk politics. I keep my opinions to myself. But they can't stop me from sharing my light and my joy which I do in abundance! I have an uncle who fought at the Alamo with Daniel Boone. Wonder if yours is the one mine fought with?
Here's something good:

I'm still researching but I was told it was THE Daniel Boone. So who knows?
I just looked it upland I was mistaken. Boone was not at the Alamo. It was Davy Crockett! Oh, well!
Don't worry. I get confused about that one too, LOL
Good Advice!
