Reminds me of the zen riddle where the master and the student help a traveler cross a river by carrying baggage. the student is mad at the master for "lowering" himself that way. several h9urs later he;s still mad and the master says "it took me ten minutes to carry the baggage, but you have been carrying it for several hours!" Suddenly, the student had enlightenment. That's how I feel about holding on to the days activities and holding onto them by the night time. I let the baggage go as soon as a cross the river and say goodbye to the traveler. That works best for me. And I sleep better, too.
Yes! And doing my best to let go of stuff when it happens and not even carry it through to nighttime......but having some sort of way to let the day go helps so much!
