The other day I needed to go to the grocery store. I found the following thought floating through my mind.
“I wonder which store it would be less likely to be shot in? Safeway or WinCo? Safeway is probably busier, so a shooter will think that is a better place to go. I’ll go to WinCo.”
I know. Me, too. Where did this thought come from? As I mentioned a few newsletters ago and as Yogananda taught: “Thoughts are universally, not individually rooted.” These days there are a lot of worrisome and fear-based thoughts floating around looking for a place to land. With all the mass shootings going on, many people find themselves thinking proactive thoughts. How can they keep themselves and their loved ones safe? One of these thoughts happened to be floating in my direction and tried to land. I was tuned to a different station so it moved on.
If you catch yourself with a thought or feeling you know isn’t yours and you want to discourage it using your mind as a landing strip, the best way to discourage it from landing is to say “Cancel! Cancel! Love! Love!” I learned this from my first metaphysical teacher - a physician in Vancouver, Canada. I’ll tell you that story another time.
Please meet my new friend - Dragon, the Turtle. She said her mother named her Dragon just as she was leaving the nest to make her way in the world. Her mother told her, “I’ll call you Dragon so you’ll always remember to be brave and strong. No one messes with a dragon.”

Krysta: If you'd like another little piece of attention to your substack efforts, I do Sharing Stories (3 per week) through Northwest Prime Time. (I've worked with them for 22 years and have gotten a lot of response to my words.) I'm currently looking for Unity Poetry (or anecdotes or brief stories) about a moment when you realized you could feel the humanity in someone you felt was quite different from you...part of a different tribe...maybe a group that has been unkind and unfeeling toward a group to which you belong. So this is a challenge to break apart some of the divisiveness. However, I use a lot of life stories and poetry, so it doesn't have to be just one about unity. If any others see this post and want to be included (I'm not paid for any of my work with Northwest Prime Time) feel free to send me stuff too. AND a link at the end to anything you've done is great. Go to Northwest Prime Time and Sharing Stories or get my email from Krysta. Love & hugs, Ariele
“Cancel! Cancel! Love! Love!”, so good. Thanks for the note on fearful thoughts floating around.
