Most of us are aware that words count. What we say and think makes a difference to ourselves as well as to the people in our environment. Paying attention to people’s choices of words can tell us a lot about them. Do they accept responsibility for their lives or do they tend to blame others? Are they optimistic or do they tend to see the gloomy side of life?
I also realized lately that most of us tend to use the same words all the time. Usually, people don’t make a conscious effort to shake up their vocabulary. Here are some words you might want to make room for in your world.
Jolly! About the only time we use this word is when referring to Santa Claus who is considered jolly. Gee, we can all be jolly, can’t we? How about adding jolly to your day and see how it makes you feel? Just saying the word makes me smile.
Zest! This is one of my favorite words that I forget to use. I love to add zest to my day and to my attitude. Who could possibly be bored if they add zest to their steps, to their thoughts, and to their attitude?
Dazzle! Similar to zest, who can frown while saying the word dazzle? The sun can be dazzling. So can the ocean or the bird outside your window. How could you dazzle your clients and friends today? Here’s an image that came up when I put the word dazzle into an image search engine:
Peppy! Peppy people are happy and upbeat. Again, the sound of the word itself makes me smile and feel energetic. I will be peppy today!
Sagacious. This one’s a bit more serious and makes me want to sit up a little straighter and stand a little taller. Who doesn’t want to be wise?
What words can you think of that the rest of us might want to add to our daily use? Put them in the comments below and let’s see what we come up with.
Living in grace and ease,

These are great words. I particularly like Dazzle! Thanks for the vocab-builder today!
