Surely, you’ve noticed how ugly some people and situations are getting. It seems as if many social rules and niceties have been discarded and anything goes. I am a big believer in the idea that our thoughts go into some sort of collective pool and we can influence one another for good or for bad.
If I hear or read something vile, I do my best not to entertain the thought. Instead, I immediately think the opposite thought. When it comes to counterbalancing ugly behavior, thoughts, and words, I now focus on beauty instead and invite you to join me. If enough of us would do this, perhaps we could cut down on the onslaught of the uglies. Here are some ideas. Feel free to add your own in the comments section.
*Focus on the beauty you see around you. Whether it’s trees, flowers, butterflies, or people (including yourself) make it a point to notice and appreciate all things beautiful.
*Play beautiful music. Sound has an incredible effect on us. Counteract any ugly words you might hear by listening to music that makes you feel good. This varies from person to person so choose what you like best and let yourself be immersed in the beauty of the sounds.
*Make art of some kind. You don’t have to be an accomplished artist to pull out some pens, markers, or Crayolas and make some pretty marks on paper. I started drawing and painting with watercolors awhile back and love making colorful drawings for myself and to share on my Facebook page. I love when someone tells me something I made caused them to smile or feel joyful.
*Think beautiful thoughts. I know this isn’t always easy to do but with some effort and reminders, you can find yourself thinking beauty rather than ugly more often than not.
If you have other beautiful ideas to share with us, please do so in the comment section.
Living in grace and ease with sprinklings of beauty,
Krysta
PS.. I don't come home with "someone", rather something to create my own color bowl . I'm cracking myself up here!😂😅
One of the things I do when the world feels ugly it head for my favorite privately owned garden center near me. Not only do I get the benefit of breathing in the healing air, taking in the miracle and beauty of their existence, but I usually end up coming home with someone to rrste my own color bowl for myself or a friend.
When I have no control over toxic ugly sound bites coming from another in my home, I find my earbuds and beautiful music to cancel, cancel cancel. "Dear creator, bless him, change me." 🙄
