Yesterday we left the Dutch Cup Motel in Sultan, Washington, dropped off our Xfinity cable box at the UPS store, Rhonda grabbed a cup of Vanaccio’s Coffee (locally brewed and not found where we’re going), and we hit the road. For those who know the area, here’s an early morning shot of the windmill across from the Dutch Cup where a new O’Reilly’s car parts store is going in.
We drove for six hours and ended up in Baker City, OR, where we spent the night. Rhonda did something really fun for the trip. She has us staying in old fashioned motels rather than the large chain ones and this first one was a lot of fun.
Not only is the place welcoming to dogs, they actually cater to them. There is a fabulous dog area behind the motel and right beside a gurgling stream. The owners are dog lovers and make the sure space is clean, open, and safe. They even provide pick-up bags and disposal cans. Pearl, the corgi, feels very special and is having a great time. Here’s the back of the motel where the dog area is.
Something I noticed yesterday was how timeless I became. It didn’t feel as if we were on the road as long as we were. We just drove, made a few pit stops, enjoyed some fabulous scenery and arrived at our destination. Even though we were also dealing with some hiccups with the purchase of our new home in Phoenix, both of us felt peaceful and know everything is progressing as it should. Thank Goddess for technology - where we would be without texting and email?
The sale of our Gold Bar home was completed before we left with the expert knowledge and guidance of our real estate agent Debbie Robinson (425-949-9030 if you’re looking for a great agent). It was difficult to say goodbye to our home of 26 years, but it felt right and timely to be moving on.
Today we begin the second leg of our journey and will travel for about five hours. I’m not sure where Rhonda has us booked for tonight. I just know it will be different and fun!
Moving forward with grace and ease,
Krysta
