Well. I’ve been in Phoenix long enough that I felt it was time to find some metaphysical stores. Imagine my delight when I asked Ms. Google about this and she led me to seven locations, most within a half-hour drive and one within 15 minutes. Two of them are an hour away in the town of Gilbert where a grandniece I have not met lives. We plan to meet sometime in December so a visit to the two stores there will fit in nicely.
For my first visit, I chose the store that is 15 minutes away. It is called Jan Ross New Age Books & Gifts and they have been around over 20 years. It shows in a good way. When I walked in, I felt I was in one of the many metaphysical stores that used to exist in Seattle.
Who among my Seattelite readers remembers Lodestar? Zenith? East West? (original store) Quest? That’s the energy I felt. A sense of awe, excitement, and walking into a new world where adventures await. I felt like a newbie walking around saying, “Goll-ee!” The store offers a full range of products from walking sticks to crystals and stones, incense, candles, oils, statues, books, tarot decks, and jewelry.
I was surprised to find some books there I haven’t seen in stores in years: the green St. Germaine books and some blue Alice Bailey books as well as one crystal book I couldn’t find online and was told was out of print - they had two copies. Now they have one.
The staff was helpful and it was easy to see they are dedicated to their store and customers. The reader there had a little space near the back of the store. It is unfortunate that, although there is a curtain, her voice carried almost throughout the store. It was not private at all. I easily heard her say two things that annoy me. “I don’t do my readings the way other people do.” And, “You are an old soul.” Of course your readings are different - they all are. And of course the person will be flattered to hear they are an old soul. Of course to be fair, maybe there was something astonishing in the reading related to the age of her soul. Not my business except I could hear it several aisles away.
Of course I had to adopt a new tarot deck that is already providing some great insights and thoughtful direction. And, of course, I had to adopt two new stones. One for me and one for Rhonda. She already has a large labradorite, so I adopted the clear one for her and I programmed it with with love for her and told her she never has to question whether or not she is loved. The labradorite one sits on my desk and purrs.
What a delightful trip this was for me and I look forward to exploring the other stores in this area as well as starting to dip into some of the churches here. One of my favorite sayings is “My life is an adventure and filled with happy surprises!” Right now, this is even more true than usual.
Moving through life with grace and ease,
Krysta
