The word secret is so delicious, isn’t it? Our ears perk up the second we hear it. Maybe, just maybe, what she’s about to say is the secret. No, I’m not referring to the movie of that name. I’m referring to a secret that hides right in front of us every day. Most of us don’t see it and most people won’t believe it. Here it is.
You have nothing to do. You have everything to be. Please read that again. “I have nothing to do. I have everything to be.”
In general, our lives are built around what we have to do every day. We have written lists, digital lists, and mental lists. There’s little as satisfying as crossing things off our list. A confession: I’ve been known to write something down I’ve already done just so I can have the pleasure of crossing it off the list. Getting things done is important, of course. But even more important is paying attention to who we are.
No matter what time of year it is, there’s so much to do, places to go, people to see, how do we keep up with it all? Here’s the Secret Something for you. When you begin each day, ask yourself: Who do I want to be today? Then approach your to-do list from that perspective. Don’t take any actions until you have determined who you are and how you want to express your beingness.
Not only will this help you stay out of other people’s dramas, it will help you keep from creating your own. Before you know it, you will move smoothly through your days, get far more accomplished than you ever thought you could, and come at least one step closer to living a truly enlightened life.
Living with grace and ease,
Krysta
