Since I haven’t moved in 26 years, my moving muscles are out of shape. I find myself craving systems, order, and balance. At the same time, this move is actually going very smoothly. It’s just unsettling tying to get back into some sort of groove.
Yesterday, our refrigerator and washer/dryer were delivered. We’ve been living out of an Igloo cooler with ice to keep things like yogurt cold. And the clothes, although plentiful, were beginning to overflow the laundry basket. We haven’t bought appliances in 26 years (gee, what else haven’t I done for 26 years?), and are delighted at some of the upgrades that are now included. Because I drink a lot of water (my favorite drink), I insisted on getting a refrigerator with a water and ice spigot on the door. So convenient and energy-saving; however, it is somewhat unnerving to hear an ice cube drop in the middle of the night. We chose not to get a model that talks to us or one you can look into without opening the door. Who needs to see what’s in our fridge?
The washing machine sings when it is done rather than the obnoxious blast our old machine made - so much more civilized. There are way too many options on both washer and dryer so we just used the normal cycle. Later on, I will figure out if we need to use the brighter cycle or one of the other options. Wi-fi controls? We didn’t know it would have this feature but, yep, it does. We won’t need wi-fi for using the washer or dryer, but I guess I can see where someone might want to start the laundry while still at work - if they remembered to put it in the machine before leaving in the morning. We are so close to have robots in our homes who could do all of this for us it’s scary.
I found this in one of the boxes I unpacked yesterday and thought I’d share it with you.
Thanks for reading. I need to do some reviews for this week’s New Spirit Journal and then I’ll unpack another box or two!
Moving with grace and ease,
Krysta
