Yes, I’m talking to you. Just stop it. Right now. Most people who embark on a spiritual journey find themselves taking personal inventory of all the ways they don’t meet the mark of whatever path they embark upon. Then begins the fixing.
Attempting to fix ourselves does the exact opposite of what we intend. Why do you fix something in your home? Because it’s broken, right? When we decide to fix ourselves, we focus our energies on what is wrong with us, what we consider broken, and then, guess what? We get more of what we don’t want.
Am I saying we shouldn’t improve ourselves. Not at all. Go ahead and change the wallpaper or paint the walls. Change out the carpet. Yes, to improving ourselves. Yes, to expanding and refining ourselves. Yes, to sinking into the reality of who we are, our talents, our gifts, and any changes, refinements, expansions we want to make. Just no more fixing.
2025 is rushing towards us. Most of us take stock of ourselves at this time of year and make decisions about what changes we might want to make in the next twelve months. Instead of focusing on repairs, focus on improvements, expansions, and refinement. Just don’t fix yourself – you’re not broken!
Living in grace and ease,
Krysta
What a sweet joyful way of reframing my personal inventories. Thankyou and may the peace of the season light your world the way you do mine.
Refining ourselves is one of those tinkering projects that can (and probably should) take a lifetime.
