My last post about men being responsible for pregnancies was my most-read post to date and it clearly struck a chord. Here’s what my friend and colleague Kathy Wilson wrote:
“YES!! It's about time that we shift our focus from the woman and put more responsibility upon the man. Where are the vasectomy clinics? Why isn't there a birth control pill for men?
“You mention Amy Cony Barrett's viewpoint. One extremely important aspect she's missing is the impact on the child, both in utero and after birth. Bruce Lipton in his latest book The Honeymoon Effect, discusses how the emotions of the mother during pregnancy are shared with the fetus via hormones and other chemicals, such as adrenaline. This impacts the personality of the baby after birth and often all of their life. So women with unwanted pregnancies are programming their unborn child with fear, anger, low self esteem, and more. I was an unwanted pregnancy and unwanted baby. I was adopted three days after my birth. To this day I fight thoughts of being unworthy, unwanted, and abandoned.
“Keep up the wondrous work you're doing. Many, many thanks.”
Some people wonder why I have written about abortion more than once and that I seem to have strong feelings about the issue. As they point out, I am not in danger of getting pregnant at this point in my life. True. However, as I wrote in another post, the anti-choice movement isn’t about abortion. It’s about controlling women and denying us the right to be in charge of our bodies. This affects everyone- women, men, children.
Once this significant right has been stolen from women, we are starting down a slippery slope. Next will come denying the right to birth control. After that, will come gay rights, single heterosexual couples living together, and, of course, continued chipping away at racial justice and voting rights. The people behind this want our society returned to what they call a “Christian country,” one that abides by their perceived biblical teachings. Poor Jesus would be turning in his grave if he hadn’t ascended.
While I continue to work from a higher vision and support people in moving to a higher consciousness that exists beyond all this darkness, I will also continue to call out what I see as harmful to our world. My hope is this will encourage others to speak up, vote, and get involved in whatever way works for them.
For clarity and light,
Krysta
