Recently, I heard a young man talking about how he had been wanting to buy a car for a very long time. Even though he’d read many books and articles on manifesting, he just couldn’t manifest a car. He started using tools presented at MasteringAlchemy.com. Then one day everything clicked for him and he bought a car online using Carvana. He simply did it and felt proud of himself. Well, some of his friends gave him grief. How could he buy a car he hadn’t driven or even seen in person? How could he buy a car that was a manual shift when he didn’t know how to drive a manual shift. A woman friend of his got so disgusted that she hung up on him. He’s happy with his new car and is learning to drive it.
As I listened, I realized I did something similar and also got a lot of criticism and disbelief from people I know. My spouse and I bought our house online. We had lived in the same home in Washington state for over 26 years and decided it was time for a new adventure in Phoenix, Arizona. Not sure how to do this, we did our research and discovered the experts said it wasn’t going to be easy. We still owed two mortgages on our current home and would have to sell it to release our capital to buy the new home. Most sellers are not interested in tying the sale of their home to the sale of someone else’s home. Additionally, I wanted to forego having a mortgage and be able to pay cash for the new home. When I dream, I dream big.
We were not in a position to take a trip to Arizona to look at houses but we’re both comfortable with technology and decided we could buy our new home over the Internet as long as we had two good realtors - one in Washington state and one in Phoenix. We listed our current home, and our Washington realtor helped us find a realtor in Phoenix and the hunts began for a buyer and a seller. Yes, there were many twists and turns to this adventure and people we knew thought we were crazy to even try to pull this off. There were times we thought about giving up and just staying put. We persisted.
Our Phoenix realtor put us on an automated list and we were sent daily home listings that matched our specifications, price range, etc. Daily, we went through the listings. It is amazing what you can learn on the internet. Not only could we see photos of every part of the potential homes, but our realtor took us on tours in real time using FaceTime. We were able to explore neighborhoods using our phones and LexisNexis to find out about crime, airport noise, etc… In other words, we could explore our potential home neighborhood very throughly.
We were doing all this during one of the craziest times to buy real estate and had to make four offers before landing our perfect home. Selling our home had its own set of issues. We sold our home within 24 hours of listing it only to lose the buyer after 10 days. Our second buyer came along 24 hours later and they clearly were the right people for the property. We closed on the sale of the home within hours of having to close on the purchase of our new home. It felt like being on a trapeze where you have to make the transition from one to the next perfectly or you might fall.
People we know kept asking us why we didn’t take a trip to Phoenix to see houses in person before making offers. Relatives offered to let us stay with them for several weeks while we found a new home, after putting our belongings in storage. They kept saying we had to actually walk through a house before making the commitment of buying it. They just didn’t understand that we had all the information we needed to make our buying decision and felt very comfortable buying our home online. Besides all the things I mentioned here, intuition is one’s best friend in situations like these. We used our respective intuitional nudges extensively.
It was a nine-month process and on October 4, 2021 we arrived at our new home and felt like we had already been there and knew how to find everything in our new house because we had visited it so many times online and in our imaginations. What’s fun is after going through this, we’re learning there have been many others who bought their homes virtually and didn’t actually see the home until they moved in. Why am I telling you this? Because this could be seen as a miracle and our lives are about making/allowing miracles. I want to share with you some of the principles we used/learned through this amazing process.
But first, here’s a photo of our corgi, Pearl, enjoying her pool. She can hardly wait for the weather to get warm enough for her to learn to swim.
1. Don’t let other people dictate your life decisions. People who love and care about you want the best for you. However, they don’t always see your life possibilities the same way you do. Sometimes you simply have to accept their information graciously, thank them for caring, and then proceed on your chosen path.
2. Have plan B and C ready to go in case you need them. Throughout this process, we faced unexpected twists and turns. Had we not been flexible with alternates in place, we could have been greatly disappointed.
3. Once you decide on your goal, persist. I have manifested many things in my life. Some have come easily, while others did not. I have learned that there are reasons if something doesn’t happen quickly or easily and this doesn’t always mean you’re barking up the wrong tree. When we manifest, we’re dealing with lots of other people’s energies not just our own, and some of these external situations can affect us. Persist unless it becomes clear you need to go in another direction.
4. Live your life as the adventure it is. As Helen Keller famously said, “Life is a great adventure or nothing at all.” When we view our lives this way, we open doors to people, places, and situations that remain closed to others who choose a life of predictability. If we’re not willing to take a few risks, how do we expect good things to fall into our laps? Be curious. Be bold. Be open.
5. Have faith, not only in God/Higher Power whatever this means to you, but also in yourself. If you have a dream, know it is given to you by your Higher Power and you have the means to realize it. There are no guarantees that your process will be easy, only that you can attain your dream if you have faith and activate that faith by taking action.
My spouse and I both routinely look at one another and ask, “Did we really do this? Is this really our house?” Then we smile, high five each other, and say, “Damn right we did, and damn right this is our home!”
Oh, here is contact information for the fabulous realtors who helped and supported us during our journey. In the Seattle area: Debbie Robinson, 425-742-1515 or 425-949-9030. In the Phoenix area: Della Davis, 480-215-7377.
Living in grace and ease,
Krysta
There are things we call "God winks". This was one of those experiences for the two of you. Miracles do happen and they manifest themselves in various ways. We have purchased cars in similar fashions. Sometimes you just have to put it out there and hope that you make the right decision. Thank you for sharing. We agree.
