It's a trifecta!
Clean car, delicious salad, and kissed by a honey bee!
When Rhonda told me where we were going on today’s outing, it sounded good: gas up the car, get the car washed, grab a salad for lunch. Each place had it’s own excitement to offer.
While we gassed up the car, a young man emerged from inside the store and yelled at the top of his lungs across the parking lot. Everyone there jumped not being sure if everything was okay or not. I don’t think anyone understood what he yelled but we all stood at attention. I watched him walk across the street to a business called The Giving Tree and figured he was going to get some more of what was making him so robust in his communication. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why the place is named The Giving Tree. I thought it was some sort of food or clothing bank until I read the small print and learned it is a marijuana store.
The next item on our agenda was a car wash Rhonda had read about called Duck Duck Go. The fellows working there were so friendly and one had moved here from Everett, WA, just awhile ago. Such a small world! While we were paying and talking to the attendant, a bee flew around him and Rhonda and went in and out of the car. It finally landed on my hand, crawled onto my watch, sat there briefly and then left. I have an affinity for honey bees and felt blessed to have one visit me so directly!
This is one of those car washes where you are guided onto a rail, put the car in neutral and sit back to watch the show while the car is pulled through the wash. It is so much fun once you are sure all the windows are shut. Pearl the corgi loves car washes!
Next stop: salads. Uh-oh. To get from the car wash to the salad place, guess what we had to drive past. Did you think Dunkin Donuts? You would be correct. I haven’t had a donut in years and not one from Dunkin since the 1990’s! I used to buy a dozen of them for the gals and guys who helped me distribute my first newspaper The New Times. We filled up on donuts and coffee. I’m sure the sugar and caffeine helped us get the newspaper delivered faster! By the way, the Salad and Go place also has lemonade. Rhonda’s favorite is one with cucumber (yuk - I like cukes but not with my lemonade) and today I got one with apple spice that was very seasonal and delicious.
Rhonda asked if I wanted a donut. I said no. Guess what I’m having for breakfast tomorrow? So is she. The challenge is this. Now we know how close the donut store is to the car wash and to the salad store. Will we be able to get a salad while bypassing the donuts? Do we want to do that? Time will tell! And pretty soon we’ll be making our own salads so this could become a moot point.
I’d better run. Rhonda just got an email about something called Arizona Scaregrounds and we’re reliving the time we went to a haunted house in Monroe several years ago. It was really scary - I mean scary - chainsaw scary. It was so scary that as soon as we were done, we talked a friend into going back with us and went through it again! Will we go to this one? I’ll let you know.
Moving with grace and ease -
