How it happened
Really? Leaving the lush Pacific Northwest for stunning desert beauty?
Early in 2021, Rhonda and I were talking one morning. We discovered both of us had been thinking that it was time for a new adventure. “Let’s sell everything, buy a motorhome, and live the movie Nomadland! We can work virtually and see the country at the same time.” After a bit of initial excitement, it didn’t take long for us to admit this wasn’t the lifestyle for us.
I’ve seen clients and published New Spirit Journal virtually since 2006 and Rhonda has done so almost as long, so when the restrictions of Covid19 hit, it barely made a dent in our daily lives. We don’t eat out a lot so we didn’t miss restaurants and could still do take-out. Because of living in a rural area, we didn’t miss shopping malls or even the grocery store. Wearing masks when we did go out wasn’t our favorite thing, but we adjusted. We got our vaccines when we could and kept living our lives working virutally.
Then one day we discovered a benefactor was going to give us a decent chunk of change that we could use to buy a new home. With what we would make from the sale of our current home and this gift, we would be in the position to buy a home closer to Rhonda’s side of the family.
We talked about it, weighed the pros and cons - including the weather differences - did some due diligence and made the decision to move to Arizona. And that is when moving kicked into gear resulting in our hitting the road this Friday, October 1st, 2021. What a journey it has been just getting this far. We can only imagine what’s ahead.
For those who wish to follow us, I’ll be sharing our journey with you here. Right now, we have to handle the closing on both of our houses at the same time, get ready for the movers showing up tomorrow and will return here later.
Moving with grace and ease!
