This reminds me of the lessons to be learned from professional NFL football players, in particular. I've always admired a player's ability to run a play, completely fail at it in front of millions of viewers, maybe even cost his team a score, or possession of the football temporarily, and then a few seconds later he's running the same play again, overcoming the last failed play entirely and, in many cases, he succeeds the next time. We hear this all the time from NFL quarterbacks in post-game interviews; how the player shakes off his stumbling, fumbling, dropped ball, interception or inaccurate passing and how he puts the last play behind him, refocusing his body and mind, puts it behind him and moves on to the next play or the next game. None of the players can afford to dwell on what happened merely a few seconds ago; they press on, continue to play with determination and commitment. If NFL players can do this, so can we.
