If you haven’t done the 100-day challenge yet, I encourage you to give it some thought to discover if this is something that might bring some joy and satisfaction to your life. Here’s how it works.
Choose something you want to do and haven’t been able to accomplish yet. Many of the people doing the challenge are writers, artists, crafters, or other types of creative people. There are also folks who want to quit smoking, lose weight, exercise, or want to change some sort of habit.
Choose a day to begin and then start. If you miss a day, no big deal. Just get back on the horse and get going again. For the past few years, I’ve been drawing and have even taken a few online courses as well as one live online course. Until recently, though, I could be very sporadic in making art. When I heard of the 100-day challenge, I knew this could help me develop the draw daily habit.
I told myself it doesn’t matter what I draw. It could be as simple as making marks on the page or as complicated as drawing what happened during my day. I’m on day 36 and feeling really good about myself. Here’s one of my drawings I want to tell you about.
This is a unicorn feather. “But,” I hear you say, “Unicorns don’t have feathers!” Are you sure about that? Although not many people see them, unicorns do, indeed, have a few feathers and occasionally they will drop one. The trick is you have to pick up the feather quickly because they are special and disappear almost as soon as they show up.
When this one dropped in front of me one day, I picked it up quickly and made a sketch so I could draw and color it. No sooner had I finished my sketch, but the feather was gone in a puff of smoke. From the sketch, I had enough information to draw this picture to share with you.
They say that if you make a wish on a unicorn feather, the wish will come true. So, look at the feather, make a wish, and then fully expect it to come true. Let me know what happens.
Living with grace and ease,
Krysta
