Go into airplane mode
Whether you’re trying to be creative, reading, meditating, writing, or playing with your dog, aren’t there times when you would prefer not to be interrupted? Taken a step further, aren’t there conversations you would rather not have, places you would rather not go, people you would rather not spend time with? Here’s an idea.
Just like you can set your phone on airplane mode, you can choose to set your life to airplane mode. Tell yourself, and others if appropriate, that you’re going into airplane mode. Request they not interrupt you, call you, email, text, or disrupt you in any way. Explain you’ll let them know when you’ve landed and be available to them again.
Think of airplane mode as setting limits not only for yourself but for others. Without becoming an unpleasant person, how comfortable are you with the idea of setting limits in your life? Are there areas where you could put yourself into airplane mode and accomplish more while being a happier person? I’ve tried this to see how it flies (pun intended) and genuinely liked the results.
Living with grace and ease,
Krysta
