Givers Get!
For years I have taken written notes as I read books or listen to audio classes. It’s probably a hold-over from college when we were expected to take notes and study from them to learn the material, write term papers, and pass tests. These days, I love being able to go back over some of these inspirational notes because I realize that even if I no longer have the book or recording, what I do have is what I thought was most important when I first studied the material.
This morning I pulled a few of these notebooks down from the bookshelf and started browsing through them. What a treasure trove! Here’s a quote I wrote down from a book called The One-Minute Millionaire.
“Givers get! Give your time, your approval, your smile, your advice, your wisdom, your compliments, your sense of humor, your talent, your attention, your encouragement, your love!”
Most of us are familiar with the concept of tithing ten percent of our income to whoever or whatever we consider to be our spiritual home. I am neutral about this since I believe it is a personal decision. However, I am a huge supporter of the concept of giving and I think this quote shows the many ways we can give in our daily lives.
Who can’t give some time, approval, smile, advice, wisdom, compliments, humor, attention, encouragement and love to others? I think it’s fine to give in these ways to draw money and other material goods to ourselves. I also believe it is good to give these things simply because it’s the right thing to do.
When you feel discouraged and wonder what you can do to make things better in this world, read this giving list again. Give one or more of these to someone else. Not only will it make the other person feel better, but you will be sharing your light with the world. You will feel better and the world will move one tiny bit closer to being the sort of place we all want to live in. And remember: givers get. The more you give, the more you will receive!
Living in Grace and Ease,

Good one!
Something along these lines? "No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house."
