With the unrest and cruelty going on all around us, it’s easy to start feeling like something has broken, if not in the outer world, then certainly within us. I don’t believe this is true. We might feel we’re getting beat down right now and, in some ways, we are. But we are not being broken.
If anything, this past weekend showed us how many people in our beloved United States of America want this country to continue being fair, compassionate, and democratic (small d). Most people do not want this country to fall into fascism and most people aren’t willing to continue having our country run by a political party that seems to have no conscience. Besides speaking up, marching, and protesting when possible, I think we can also use our creativity to send out positive and supportive energy.
Each time we create a drawing or painting, cook a delicious meal, write an article or chapter of a book, make some jewelry or wood-work an item, we can consciously embed joy, freedom, compassion, and fairness into what we’re doing.
If we can share the piece with others in some way all the better. Even if we don’t explain what we’re doing, the recipients of our creativity will feel it in some way. Let’s use our creativity to bring joy, peace, compassion, and humor to our world. The smallest of efforts will bring great dividends.
Creating with joy grace, and peace.

Thanks for writing this. It's so easy to let all the chaos bring you down, and this was a wonderful reminder that my art desk (or the coffee table) can always be a place to escape to grab some piece and centering.
Thank you for this little nudge. I'm using it in the focus wheel I'm creating today regarding my intentions to manifest a compassionate, loving environment while I help my husband host an upcoming visit from his Virginia family from a life I had nothing to do with 60 years ago. I will be whipping up love, kindness, and radical self care into those morning omelets! I will keep your creative mindset when it comes to letting them have time together without me as I recharge my emotional batteries. If politics comes up, I will use the WAIT method. Why Am I Talking, before opening my mouth. Wish me luck please. I continue to love your new format!
