Pick up a nearby object that you can hold in your hand, something like a pen or pencil. For the next five minutes or so, go about your day hanging on to this object as tightly as you can. It is sort of difficult to do very much with that hand, isn’t it?
Now hold the object more gently, lightly, and go about your day for about five minutes. Even though you are still holding on to the pen or pencil, you are able to navigate more smoothly and easily, right?
Next, try letting go of the object totally. Now you can sail through the day using both hands easily.
This is how I explain living our lives hanging on tight to the results of what we are doing as opposed to allowing results to occur without demanding they be a certain way.
When we try to control everything in our lives, we are miserable. Why? Because we’re holding on tightly to everything without realizing we’re not in control no matter how much we think we are or wish we could be. When we do our best with everything in our lives, hold on lightly, and let go of the results, we are in the flow and much happier.
This week, try living with open hands and heart. Do your best with whatever you’re doing but let Spirit take care of the results and watch what wonderful things happen for you.
Living in grace and ease,
Krysta
Wow did i ever need to read this Krysta! I love the way you explain it because it makes so much sense. Thank you!
What a great way to explain how holding on tightly limits the way we walk through life. Great analogy. Thanks.
